trip details
This pilgrimage traces the intersecting dynamics within the Asian American community focusing on the connections between church, history, and racial justice. Together, we will confront harmful myths and stereotypes, uncover the violent history of racism faced by the AAPI community, celebrate countless acts of resistance, and encounter stories of the generational organizing work by ordinary people. Along the way, we will hear from incredible Asian American faith leaders, organizers, and everyday resistors.
objectives:
1) To uncover, through historical events, the profound and far-reaching impact of racism in shaping and distorting the lives of all people—both people of color and white individuals.
2) To examine the enduring patterns of violence, resistance, and resilience that have defined the nation's struggle with race and racial justice throughout history.
3) To draw clear connections between the nation’s racialized history and the influence it continues to exert on contemporary social and political policies.
4) To explore and define our individual and collective roles in dismantling racism, fostering accountability within ourselves, our communities, and the institutions we engage with.
